Helan Mountain Cliff Carvings

The cliff carvings at Helan Mountain were created by nomads in northern China 3,000 to 10,000 years ago and found at the entrance of the mountain. Cliff Carvings at Helan Mountain in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is considered as one of the major wonders of Chinese civilization. Totally more than 1,000 pieces of art works spread over 15 kilometers area. The paintings provide valuable evidence for studying the ancient China. They depict different scenes of hunting, grazing dancing and others beautiful and ancient scenes.
The Helan Mountain is high and steep and the elevation is 1,448 meters, also known with the popular name of "the notch mouth". The scenery is serene and elegant in the mountain pass with peaks over peaks and the spring water flowing from the valley. There are about thousands of single figures rock of the precipices cliffs that are more than 600 meters. The art pictures are rough and vigorous. The composition of a picture is simple and the posture is natural.
