Nanjing Confucius temple was built during the Song Dynasty in A.D.1034. Nanjing Confucius Temple dedicated to the worship of Confucius the great philosopher and educator of ancient China, and the tenets he set down for a perfect society. The temple has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. The Confucius Temple was rebuilt in Qing Dynasty (A.D.1869), but was seriously damaged by the invading Japanese troops in 1937. In order to maintain the old city, the Chinese Government assigned funds to restore the Confucius Temple.
