Pingyao is located in central Shanxi province, China, about 715 km from Beijing and 80 km from the provincial capital, Taiyuan. Well known for its well-preserved ancient city wall which has been listed as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Pingyao now has become quite a hot tourist destination.
