The Li River, or Lijiang River, runs through the city of Guilin in the Autonomous Region of Guangxi Zhuang. It is famous for its beauty, with the lush green mountains, fantastically shaped rocks, fragrant waters and lakes and mysterious and enchanting grottoes.
Elephant Trunk Hill, seeped in a history of over 3.6 hundred million years, is often regarded as a symbol of the Guilin landscape. The hill has had its name for hundreds of years, because of its appearance, of an elephant sucking water from the river with its trunk.
The Reed Flute Cave is one of the largest and magnificent caves in Guilin, hidden completely on the side of Guangming Hill, 3.2 miles away from the city. This region has been the home of the reeds that have been used to make flutes and pipes since ancient times.
