Day01: Beijing/Datong
Travel to Datong on the night train.

Day02: Datong (B/L/D)
We arrive at Datong early in the morning. First we shall visit the Yungang Caves, the Huayan Monastery and the Nine-dragon Wall. The Yungang Caves are not only an artistic masterpiece, created by the ethnic groups of the Northern Wei Dynasty, but are also one of world's best examples of Chinese Buddhist devotional art.

Day03:Datong/Mt. Wutaishan (B/L/D)
A bus will collect you from the hotel to take you to Wutaishan. There you will visit the Hanging Temple with a rest stop on the way, at a beautiful wooden pagoda.
The Hanging Temples were first built over 1000 years ago, and remain an incredible feat of engineering to this day.

Mt. Wutaishan is a sacred site to Chinese Buddhism and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is home to almost 800 different varieties of plant, grass and fungus, many of which are very rare or unique to this spot, and very valuable in the production of Chinese medicine and special local delicacies.

A bus will take you to Pingyao in the morning. There you will visit the Qiaojiabu Folk Culture Museum, the ancient city walls of Pingyao, and the Shuanglin Temple. The Shuanglin Temple is famous for its huge collection of over 2000 coloured statues dating from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.Return by bus to Taiyuan.

A bus will take you to the airport in the morning to catch your return flight to Beijing.

Yungang Caves are located at Wuzhou Mountain, just west of Datong. These caves stretch for one kilometer across the mountain and are found among the cliffsides.
Hanging Temple located in Datong, close to the Yungang Grottos, is one of the most famous temples in China and also one of the most amazing ones to visit. The Hanging Temple is built hanging from the rock face of the mountain and is held in place by various engineering feats.
Huayan Monastery is one of the only preserved monasteries from the Liao period. In 1122, the monastery was destroyed, yet it was not long after a new building was built to replace the old.
Chongshan Temple has a figure of Avalokitesvara, a deity with one thousand hand and eyes. This is located in the Hall of Great Mercy, which has an architectural style that is found in the Ming Dynasty.
Jinci Temple, located southeast of Taiyuan City, is one of the most famous in the area, known for its ancient trees, cultural relics, beautiful scenery and most of all, its ancient temple, a rarity in China.
Wutaishan an important Buddhist mountain with superb natural conditions, is home to over 600 kinds of plants, of which more than 150 are used as rare herbs.
