Tour Itinerary
In the morning hours you are taken from your hotel to the famous Famen Temple. Constructed during the Han Dynasty it is an extremely old Chinese tourist site. It is figured prominently in Tang times because emperors of the Tang Dynasty paid homage to the legendary "relic of the Buddha", or more specifically, "the finger-bone of the Buddha" that had been enshrined in the pagoda attached to this temple. Afterwards you will be taken to The Qianling Tomb and is about an hour's drive from Xian. The tomb contains both the Emperor Tan Gaozong and Empress Wu Zetian, both living almost 1400 years ago. Empress Wu Zetian was the only Empress in the history of China.
(Service End)
Famen Temple is situated at Famen Town, ten kilometers north of Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province, China. It is a famous Buddhist temple with a long history, and became a Holy Land of Buddhism because the finger bone relic of Sakyamuni was placed in it. All places receiving such relics must build pagodas to enshrine them.
Qianling Tomb occupies a prominent site on the summit of Liangshan Hill some 80 kilometers northwest of the Tang capital, Xi'an. The design of the tomb site replicates the city of Chang'an and in accordance with tradition is on a north-south axis. The southern approach is set between two smaller hills and the way to the Emperor's tomb is lined with stone animals as well as human figures.
