Hongcun Village
Hongcun Village is located at the foot of the southwest side of Mt. Huangshan, only 11 kilometers away from Yixian town. Hongcun village was first established in the Song Dynasty, one thousand years ago. The exquisite woodcarvings inside the buildings, adorning much of the internal architecture, were created with a great numbers of images differing from each other in both appearance and spirit. The craftsmanship utilized in its construction was both elaborate and magnificent. Because of its nice scenery, Hongcun Village has always enjoyed the name "a village in the Chinese painting".
