Bell Tower
The Bell Tower in Xi'an is the best preserved tower in China, with its base in square shaped, covering an area of 1,377 square meters with 8.6 meters high and 35.5 meters wide with a brick and timber structure. It has been a popular travel destination in that city nowadays. The Bell Tower was built in 1384 in the Yingxiang Temple by Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang to warn the city of any invaders. Presently the Bell Tower holds a smaller bell than the original, which is not in the Forest of Stone Steles Museum. At night, there are lanterns hanging from the tower that illuminate it and its surroundings.
In the past, cars were allowed to travel underneath the tower arches, but now it is closed off to all but pedestrians. Now the big iron Jinglong Bell on the Bell Tower was made in Ming Dynasty with the weigh of 2,500 kilograms. It has given time to the city for more than 400 years.
