This section of the Three Gorges is known for having mountains covered with lush trees and vegetation and also deep valleys. This gorge is divided into two sections, the Golden Helmet and Silver Armor Gorge ad well as the Iron Coffin Gorge. The gorge is interesting to travel down because of its many zigzags, peaks and beautiful scenery. Once you travel past the Wu Mountains, the currents change their direction constantly. This is the most exciting and most beautiful part of the gorges.
Flanked by high peaks that are often capped by fog or clouds, Wu Gorge was long known to be as dangerous as it is beautiful. The famous natural sceneries and travel attractions include: Twelve Peaks, Luyou Ancient Cave, Dayu Teaching Platform, the Relics of Goddess Temple, Kongming Stele, and Dadong, etc. Among these, the Tweleve Peaks - twelve lofty peaks gleam above the floating mist which almost continuously hovers over the river are the best travel spot in Wu Gorge.
