Wuyi Mountain
Wuyi Mountain is located in northern Fujian and is well-known for its beautiful forests and rivers. One of the highlights of Wuyi Mountain is floating down the Jiuqu stream on manmade bamboo rafts. There are several different peaks in the Wuyi Mountain area that all have their own unique shape. Wuyi Palace, located at the Wuyi Mountain, was built in the 7th century for emperors to conduct sacrificial ceremonies. The Wuyi Mountain and the temple are important to Daoism and its followers. The present city, Wuyishan City received its name in 1990.
Known as the 'number one scenic wonder in Southeast China', Wuyishan Mountain was listed as both natural and cultural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1999. The Wuyi Mountain area is the most biodiversity conservation zone of Southeast China and productive with numerous teas among which the most famous is Da Hong Pao.
