Laos

Laos, officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic, is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. It covers an area of totally 236,800 square kilometers and has an estimated population of more than 6.8 million. Laos traces its history to the Kingdom of Lan Xang or Land of a Million Elephants, which existed from the 13th to the 18th century. Theravada Buddhism is a dominant influence in Lao culture. The capital city is Vientiane. It developed diplomatic relation with China on April 25, 1961. Since then the bilateral relation between the two country has developed normally.
