The Philippines, officially the Republic of the Philippines, is a country in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. It covers an area of totally 299,764 square kilometers, comprising 7,107 islands in its territory. With an estimated population of over 91 million, the Philippines has multiple ethnicities and cultures throughout the islands. Philippines' tropical climate sustains one of the richest areas in terms of biodiversity in the world. China and Philippines just celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2005. The two sides agreed to strengthen ties and to sustain high-level contacts exchanges at all levels in all fields.
