Slovenia,officially the Republic of Slovenia, is a Central European country touching the Alps and bordering the Mediterraneans. Slovenia covers an area of 20,273 square kilometers and has a population of 2.1 million estimated in 2010. The capital and largest city of Slovenia is Ljubljana. Slovenia is a highly mountainous country with 40% of its land mass elevated. It gained the EU accession on May 1st, 2004 and established diplomatic relations with China on May 12th, 1992 after its indenpence from former Yugoslavia. Since then the bilateral relations have developed smoothly and steadily.
