Tajikistan

Tajikistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia, bounded by China in the east. It covers an area of totally 143,100 square kilometers and has an estimated population of more than 7.9 million people. Ninety-three percent of Tajikistan's territory is mountainous, and the mountain glaciers are the source of its rivers. Tajikistan is an earthquake-prone area. Most of Tajikistan's population belongs to the Tajik ethnic group, who share culture and history with Afghanistan and speak the Persian language. China officially established diplomatic relations with Tajikistan in 1992.
