This is a 7-day Tibet tour Lhasa to Mt. Everest passing by Shigatse and Gyangtse. Everest, the highest point in the world, is not so far from you as you think. Although the journey can be hard because of the long driving and rough accommodation, the splendid view makes it worthwhile and memorable. Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Lhasa
You will arrive at the Gonggar Airport and be greeted by your tour guide. Then you will drive to Lhasa and have a rest at your hotel in the afternoon.
Day 02: Lhasa (B/L/D)
Today you will visit Norbulingka Park and the Sera Monastery. Afterwards you will then visit the Potala Palace, constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of united Tibet. Later you will visit a Tibetan family and then be taken back to your hotel for the remainder of the evening.
Day 03: Lhasa (B/L/D)
Today you will visit the Jokhang Temple and the bazaar at Barkhor Street. Afterwards you will be taken to the Carpet Factory and The Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital. Finally you will see Drepung Monastery, constructed in 1416. The second through fourth Dalai Lamas once lived here. Afterwards you will be driven back to your hotel for the remainder of the evening.
In the morning you will leave Lhasa and drive to Yamdrok Yumtso Lake. Then you will drive over two of the highest passes in Tibet, Kambala Pass at 4,794m and Karola Pass at 5,010m above sea level. When you arrive at Gyangtse, you will visit Palkor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa which is the largest stupa in Tibet. Continue your way to Shigatse and you’ll be transferred to the hotel in Shigatse for the evening.
Day 05: Shigatse/ Lhatse / Shegar / Rongbuk Monastery / E.B.C
In the morning, you will leave for Ronghuk via Lhatse and Shegar. On the way you will come across a few high passes, Gyatso La, Gawu La and Nyalam Passes. On the top of Gawu La, you will be able to witness the spectacular view of the Himalayan Ranges. Then you’ll take a local minibus to pay a visit to Mt. Everest base camp and Rongbuk Monastery which is the highest monastery in the world.
In the early morning, start to drive back to Shigatse. It’s 340 km between Rongbuk and Shigatse, the whole distance will take 6 to 7 hours driving. You won't be bored on the way because you will be able to see the breathtaking sceneries again along the way back to Shigatse.
Day 07: Shigatse / Lhasa (B/L/D)
You will visit Tashilunpo Monastery and wonder around the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas. After that, you will be transferred back to Lhasa and sent back to the hotel for a good rest.
Day 08: Depart from Lhasa (B)
Free on your own in the morning, then transfer to the airport for your next destination.
